 Harry James Potter

Harry James Potter (aka the boy who lived, the chosen one) is the central character in the Harry Potter series. Lord Voldemort tried to kill him when he was a baby but was unsuccessful. This is because Harry was protected by his mother (Lily Potter nee Evans) who had just died for him and created a powerful charm from her love for him. He is the only known survivor of the kiling curse (Avada Kedavra)

As a baby harry lived in Godric's Hollow.  Harry was left on the door step of Petunia and Vernon Dursley (his aunt and uncle - Petunia is Lily Potter's sister) by Albus Dumbledore. Hagrid brought him to the house to meet Dumbledore on Sirius Black's flying motorbike. According to hagrid He fell asleep over Bristol. This was because after his parents died he had no other family. Petunia and Vernon's son Dudley lives with them and is a year older than Harry. The Dursleys have never liked Harry but they took him in and sealed the protection given by his Mother.

On his 11th birthday Hagrid smashes the door of a shed Harry and  the Dursley's are staying in (to hide from the owls trying to send Harry letters), and tells Harry he is a wizard. Hagrid is shocked Harry doesn't know how his parents really died- Harry thinks they died in a car crash. Hagrid also gives Harry his 1st birthday cake - but it's a bit squished because hagrid sat on it.
